Welcome Joseph "Joey" Alexander

Whew! It's been a very full week! Joseph Alexander entered this world, last Saturday, April 17, at 5:03 pm. We already love him to pieces. He had a rough start, as he was in the NICU the entire hospital stay. But thank God he is a healthy (and HUNGRY!) boy! They admitted him to the NICU due to a "blue" spell he had and a heart murmur they heard. They monitored him until we left the hospital, on Monday April 19, and we are happy to report, the murmur and "blue" spell were just transitional things that didn't amount to anything.

We are so happy to be at home, and able to hold him and love him, and have him in our family. Here are a few pictures from his first week!

Finally able to leave the NICU and go home!

Playing in the back "yard"

We got a taste of summer last week. One day it was about 80 degrees. And although we don't have our sand and water table yet (it's in my parent's basement), I gave Lydia a bowl full of water with some plastic kitchen items. That kept her busy and happy for a while! It was fun to watch her play!

Chomp chomp!

Marc is trying to pass along his love for raw vegetables to our daughter. This is not a bad thing! He was eating celery last night and she insisted on trying some. It made for a cute pic!

Baby's Room

The baby's room is done! If he came tonight, we would be ready for him!

Thanks to my mom and dad for your help in making this happen!

A closer look......

I sure hope he likes animals! Lydia definitely enjoys going in his room and checking out all the animals!

Snow Day

I've been waiting for some snow! Lydia has this nifty snowsuit, and she's only been out in the snow once this winter...until today! Marc had to do some shoveling outside, so we kept him company. Here are some pics of our winter fun, and also a funny one of Lydia chomping on a carrot her daddy gave her!

Doing my best to catch up!

I didn't realize it had been 2 months since I last posted.

Not much is new. The baby is growing which is good. In fact I am bigger than last time, which I didn't think was possible! I was in denial until I looked at a picture of when I was 29 weeks pregnant with Lydia, and then compared to my current belly. Boys are bigger I guess!! I am feeling good, but very tired usually. But I'm thankful for a healthy pregnancy so far.

Lydia is growing up so fast and doing more and more things. A few of her favorite current things are:

Babies
Cats (She calls Simon "Cat-ee" and loves to give him hugs and play with him)
Cheese (hahaha, she IS part Wisconsinite!)
Octopuses
Water, especially bathtime!
Singing and dancing along to any music
Cuddling

She loves reading books, or having them read to her! And she is even starting to get into imaginative play. For instance, the other day, I found her strapping her stuffed frog into her high chair so she could feed him.

We found she loves the snow, and everytime we are outside walking to the car or into a store, I have to restrain her from crawling into it!

She also is into helping mommy do stuff around the house, like vacuuming and sweeping.

On another note, the baby's room is painted, and pretty much ready to go. When the finishing touches get put on, I'll hopefully get some pictures up.

Here are some pictures of the last few months.

A decent family shot.

We're having a......

BOY! Yes, it's official! Marc will not be the lone male in the house anymore (not including Simon of course). We were a bit shocked, maybe because this pregnancy feels pretty much the same as the first time around with Lydia. But we are very excited to welcome our new son/brother into our family!
